Everything the dogs need to know
We all love to explore and visit new places, it's the same for our dogs. New sights, sniffs and smells are exciting, so anywhere that we can visit as a family or with friends, tire the children out in the fresh air and take the dogs is always high on our list favourite locations.
At The Turf Hotel dogs are more than welcome, there is a large beer garden for the children to play and for the adults to enjoy on dry / warm days and a log burner in the bar area if it is a little bit chilly. Be aware that dogs must be well behaved as there are a number of resident tame ducks living along the banks of the canal next to the Turf. For any rumbling tummies there are a selection of doggy bar snacks and even a K9 dinner menu.
Everything the humans need to know
The Turf Hotel is situated on the Exe estuary and is only accessible by foot, bike or boat. We parked the cars at Powderham church, you will just need to make a donation to the church collection box for parking there. It is a flat easy walk along the Exe estuary, the footpath is suitable for all walking abilities and is approximately 1.25 miles from the church. The footpath runs alongside a cycle route that goes all the way into Exeter, so if you fancy a full day out be prepared... it is about 6 miles from Powderham.
The menu offers a lovely selection of sandwiches and toasties, main meals and a separate children's menu as well as the dogs dinner menu! It was glorious sitting outside in the sunshine, we were all well walked, well fed and we will definitely be making another trip to The Turf Hotel very soon! If you fancy using the cycle track there are plenty of places to chain your bike up and even a repair stand with spanners etc just in case you need it.
