Everything the dogs need to know
As soon as we pulled into the driveway of Ullacombe Farm we knew that dogs would be welcome, the large sign on the main road tells you everything you need to know! Dogs are actively and warmly welcomed into the shop and cafe, with treats available for all four legged friends on the counter – it was a shame the weather was so warm, as Willow missed lounging in front of the large log burner!! The outside area is lovely to walk around or relax in, with a beautiful woodland walk available to you if you venture past the chicken run. Ullacombe Farm would be the perfect pit stop for all the family after enjoying a walk and the delights and sights of Dartmoor.
Everything the humans need to know
There is a large and varied menu with Vegan, Vegetarian and Children’s choices – all with gluten free options available. Ullacombe Farm uses local producers and suppliers where possible and the food is cooked fresh on site. The cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and you can browse the extensive range of gifts in the shop – again, many of them are supplied by local small businesses.
The building the cafe is in, started life as a home for hundreds of free range chickens… In fact, Ullacombe Farm was where my mum grew up and where I worked on and off from the age of 11 – 35! Being able to treat my mum to lunch and enjoy spending time in the warm and friendly environment was particularly special for us both.

Things for the little people to do
With half term fast approaching parents are always looking for something different to do with the children! Well Ullacombe has it all covered! The barn is now a ‘tractor haven’ where the little ones can ride around undercover and play at being a farmer. There is also an outside play or they are always welcome to meet the locals! Goats, Sheep, Chickens, Ducks and Horses are roaming the fields around the cafe so the children can see them and say hello through the fence. You could treat them (or yourself!) to one of their new range of hot chocolates – Unicorn, Chocolate Orange, Malteser or Mint Aero… Yummmmmmy!
